I start taking lessons from Becky twice a week. Every morning after a workout, I am so stiff it takes an act of the will just to rise and shine. Often I come home from a workout with Becky and collapse into bed for a nap. Working out reminds me of being pregnant, at least being old and fat and pregnant — sore and tired. I am doing weight training with some cardio as part of most sessions.

My husband is skeptical. Most people quit the gym soon after starting. He worries about the added expense. I come home from a workout and he happily greets me with homemade cookies, telling me I deserve it after all that work at the gym.
